"I am extremely pleased and grateful for the excellent job that Kelly has done in decluttering and organizing my pantry and laundry room. In a matter of a few hours Kelly was able to accomplish something that I never would have been able to do. I highly recommend her." - Lynda P.
Frequently Asked Questions About Decluttering & Organizing
Why should I get organized?
"Outer order leads to inner peace" - Gretchen Rubin
First and foremost, it’s important to know there’s absolutely no shame in not knowing how to get or stay organized. Decluttering and organizing are challenging tasks, and many of us aren’t taught these skills growing up. Spaces can become disorganized and messy due to various life issues such as lack of time, emotional strains, physical limitations, mental health challenges, or simply not knowing where to start. Recognizing the signs of disorganization and being willing to ask for help is the most important step.
You might be curious about what it takes to get organized and have questions about the process. I’m here to explain a bit about this process and hopefully answer some of your questions. Professional organizers truly understand how easy it is to get disorganized and will help you without any judgment.
There are many reasons to get organized, but the main ones include reducing stress, avoiding depression, curbing bad spending habits, and boosting productivity. Disorganization can lead to arguments and resentment in some homes. Think of all the valuable time wasted looking for everyday items, like purchasing the same kitchen spices or phone chargers repeatedly because you didn’t know you already had them or couldn’t find them. Organization helps us complete tasks faster and more efficiently, spend less money, and have more time to relax and enjoy our free time. Saving time, money, brainpower, and energy, while feeling mentally healthier and more focused, are all great reasons to get organized and maintain order in our lives.
Do you have a problem area to tackle, such as a pantry, closet, or kitchen? Have life circumstances caused disorganization throughout your entire home? Do you start decluttering/organizing projects but get overwhelmed and feel defeated? Did you move and never fully unpack? If you answered yes to any of these questions, you’re not alone. For many who are chronically disorganized, it becomes a lifelong struggle, so it’s helpful to work with an organizer to create order and learn how to maintain it long after the organizer leaves. As you declutter, you’ll see extra space in your closet, cabinet, office, or garage, and you’ll feel great being in that space. Once you see the life-changing results, you’ll wonder why you didn’t do it sooner.
Your home is valuable real estate. If it feels more like a storage unit rather than a comfortable, tidy home, it’s time to declutter and organize. Just like calling any other expert (an electrician, plumber, contractor, etc.), asking a professional organizer is the way to go.
If you need another reason to get organized, consider that you might find treasures you never thought you had or could ever find again. Believe it or not, I’ve found cash, uncashed checks, lost gift cards, jewelry, important papers, and even long-lost family heirlooms (such as gold coins and a handwritten note from Winston Churchill - true story)!
You can start with any package and add on as you need, so no pressure at all!

What is my organizer’s main goal?
Our goal is to create a positive experience while helping you get organized. Plain and simple! Most importantly, we're here to not only work but also to guide and encourage you through this process.
During our initial consultation (whether in person or by phone), I’ll get a better understanding of your needs and set up a plan to tackle your specific clutter before our session even begins. This is the perfect time to let me know which area is most important for you to get organized first. Once I’m in your home or business office, I’ll explain the process to ensure a smooth and productive organizing session. There won’t be any judgment, and you won’t be asked to get rid of any belongings unless you want to. Together, we can dedicate a few solid hours to create a much-needed functional space that works for you and your family. In the long run, my hope is that as you remove the extras in your home and organize the important things, you’ll also eliminate undue stress.

My friends/family members says they'll help me get organized so why do I need to hire a professional organizer?
In the past, clients have shared that family members or close friends often say there’s no need to hire a professional. They might ask, “Why spend money on an organizer?” or say, “You shouldn’t be throwing precious memories out” or “I can put your belongings in bins for free!”
While having loved ones assist in the organization process can be helpful, they sometimes bring their own emotional attachments to clutter, which can hinder your progress. It’s important to work with someone who isn’t directly associated with your clutter. Although it’s a kind gesture, working with someone close to you can lead to feelings of resentment, anger, and frustration. Hiring a professional organizer is like hiring any other expert; they bring expertise and guidance that you or your family and friends may not have.
Most importantly, organizing is not just about putting things in bins and pretty baskets. It’s a skill set that professionals bring into your home. A good organizer will teach you tips and tricks to keep clutter under control by implementing effective systems. They provide a non-judgmental perspective because they are an unbiased source, and the best part is that you will end up with an organized home.

How long does it take to get organized?
We work in 4-hour sessions, which from experience, is just the right amount of time to dedicate to decluttering and organizing in a single day. For some clients, it’s necessary to limit our time to avoid physical and mental fatigue. How much we accomplish during that time depends on the size of the space, the level of clutter, and how quickly decisions are made.
Each client and their space is unique. For example, a closet may take approximately 4-8 hours, while a bigger and more cluttered area 8-18 hours. Rest assured, we work efficiently, and if we complete a job in less time than the purchased package, we can move on to other cluttered areas. This means we will always work the full hours of the purchased package.

I would love to gift your services to a loved one. Do you offer gift cards?

Do I have to be involved in the process?
You decide how involved you’d like to be. For example, if your goal is to just organize your closet, we can work alone. However, if you need to declutter first and then organize, we should work together, or you should at least be available to answer questions about your possessions. Ultimately, your items belong to you, and you are the decision-maker in what stays and what goes, so your input is invaluable.
That said, we have completed many jobs without the client present, where we declutter and sort everything first and then let the client make decisions at their leisure. We call it “homework.” We can then return to organize the remaining items or provide ideas on how you can best organize them. The same approach applies to unpacking after a move.

If I need your help organizing before a move, will you also help me pack?
We will help you declutter, categorize, and organize for an efficient and lower-cost move; however, packing is not part of my services. Once you’re in your new home, we welcome the opportunity to come back, unpack, and set up your new space. Please note, this only applies to local moves.

Should I sell or donate my unwanted items?
If you wish to sell some of your items, you can list them online, have a garage or estate sale, or take them to consignment shops. However, resale is not part of my services. On the other hand, if you’d like to donate items in good condition to a local site, they could be used by an individual or a family in need, which is always a win-win for everyone!
